An investor group with extensive experience in the restaurant and catering sector recognised that a brewery for extra special beer was missing in Istanbul. They decided to close this gap in the market and found a suitable location for this craft brewery on the premises of the old Bomonti Brewery.

We were proud that Caspary was awarded the contract for the equipment and the planning. But a good brewery alone is not enough to brew the best beer, you also need a competent and experienced brewmaster. Tobias Palmer, a German brewmaster with many years of international experience, was given responsibility for the brewery and the beer.

The Populist “gastropub” was opened in the neighbourhood of the brewery, so the beer could be served in the right ambiance. Its modern style provides the perfect setting for the craft beer from Tobias and the Torch Brewery.

So the World Cultural Heritage city of Istanbul has now been enriched with the art of craft beers!
